Keck Graduate Institute (窪蹋勛圖厙) has received a generous donation from Tony and Virginia Chan to support the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (SPHS). Tony, the owner and CEO of ABC Pharmacies and a Claremont resident, is a long-time supporter of 窪蹋勛圖厙 and spoke at the in 2019.

It is our pleasure to support and honor the healthcare professionals of today and tomorrow who so selflessly dedicate themselves to the well-being of others, the Chan family wrote in a statement, which is featured at the bottom of this story.

To celebrate the Chan familys philanthropy, 窪蹋勛圖厙 has renamed its caf矇 and patio to the Chan Family Caf矇 and Patio.

We are incredibly grateful for the Chan familys generosity, 窪蹋勛圖厙 President Sheldon Schuster said.

This donation will help us move the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences forward. It will also continue to support the success of our students as we create career pathways in healthcare.

New signage to recognize the name change was installed in March 2021. In early April, Tony, Virginia, their son Jonathan, their daughter Megan, and son-in-law Tyler joined Schuster to visit the campus and view the new signage.

Once local health regulations permit a public, in-person gathering, 窪蹋勛圖厙 will plan a special event so that students, faculty, and staff can personally thank the Chan family.

The 窪蹋勛圖厙 School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has steadily grown its enrollment with three current programs:

  • (PharmD)
  • (MSGC)
  • (MSGDA)

In addition, 窪蹋勛圖厙 will enroll two new programs in fall 2022:  and .

Tony first connected with 窪蹋勛圖厙 through a dear friend, the late Kathy Webster, who served as the schools founding dean and launched the PharmD program in 2014. The Chan family also has deep roots at the University of Pacific (UOP), where Tony and Virginia attended school. Their two children, Jonathan and Megan, are also UOP alumni.

Through their immense generosity toward 窪蹋勛圖厙 and UOP, the Chan family continues to advance the field by supporting the next generation of pharmacists.

The Chan Family is proud to be part of the 窪蹋勛圖厙 Family. It is our pleasure to support and honor the healthcare professionals of today and tomorrow who so selflessly dedicate themselves to the well-being of others. More than ever this year we have been called upon to step up and contribute to the health of our communities. We are grateful for all of you that have answered the call and met the challenge.

We are also so thankful to 窪蹋勛圖厙 for providing such an excellent education to its students and producing healthcare professionals with superior skills as well as a commitment to ensuring access to healthcare.
